I really liked this book, This book was about this boy named Brenton and his friends and Brenton made a machine that will do homework so all of his friends come over and use it but then they get in trouble because people found it out and now they can not use it. This is good book that would pair well with Andrew Clement’s The Report Card for fourth or fifth graders. The four kids begin using the machine to do all their homework and their teacher, Miss Rasmussen, gets suspicious when all of their work is suddenly perfect. There are many interesting threads explored in this nimble story: The four children, all fifth graders in Miss Rasmussen’s class at Grand Canyon School, are as different as any four year-olds could be, but they have one thing in common all are somewhat isolated from their peers. After a while the teachers found out that they invented a homework machine and it was on the school newspaper.

Sofie July 10, It’s a fun and quick book to read, and I would recommend it to our class. James Neal Webb thinks adults dread helping with homework as eummary as children dread doing it.
But we had some pretty good discussions on this book for my EL class.

I understood what you meant very clearly and found the conversational tone to be charming. This book was very unique and enjoyable to read.
The things that Kelsey does: I remember reading this when I was in elementary school, and it was great. In the end, the kids toss the machine into the Grand Canyon thinking they are getting rid of the evidence, but people find the parts and trace it back to Brenton’s family.
